Linking accessories to kits
« on: December 10, 2017, 01:00:10 PM »
Hi,
I recently bought KitBase 2 and entered all my paint stock.
Fantastic, now I know exactly what I have on hand (or not) !

In a second step I am now in the process of entering my kit stash.

Linking an accessory to a specific kit is simple enough.
But what I could not figure out so far is the following:

If You have more than one kit  of say a Saab Draken (Autrian Version, Swedish Version, ....)
and have several sets of masks for the canopy (same manufacturer, same part number..)
it would be great if You could link that (same) mask set to the different kits.
(additionally I have identical  PE sets that could be used on several of my kits, same Thing here)

It is no big requirement of course (and it did not work in StashMate either) but would still be a nice improvement.
Is there any chance to get that feature maybe in a future version of KitBase 2?

Thanks for a great product,
it really helped me much so far.

best regards

Helmut Rohrer

Hi Helmut,

Thanks for buying KitBase.

The 'with kit' feature is used to indicate that an accessory is in the box with a kit. That allows you to put together a planned build.

Because accessories share the same fields as kits (Kit Type, Name etc), you can use the filters to find compatible accessories for a kit.

For example if you had some accessories of the same type stored with kits and others in a drawer (with location specified), you could filter on the Kit Type, Real Manufacturer, Number, Scale etc. to find those compatible accessories.

Hope this makes sense.

I have a cross-reference feature planned, to allow references to be looked up for kits (similar to the above, using matching fields).
Perhaps I could make it possible to automatically look up compatible accessories using a similar method... That would save the step of linking and keep it separate from 'Location'.

I'll give it some thought.

Kind Regards,
Gary
